5G is the 5th generation mobile network also referred to as NR (New Radio). It is a new global wireless standard that was introduced after 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables improved performance – no lag, no patch connectivity and allows for superfast, stable downloads on the move. 5G is a network technology that is adaptive to moving, dynamic users. It uses radio waves, just like earlier wireless technologies. However, it operates on higher frequency bands compared to 4G. These higher radio frequencies allow for faster data transmission and an increased capacity for simultaneous connections, with a quick response time.

5G will not replace 4G anytime soon. In fact it will actually improve the current 4G LTE A experience, as 5G and 4G will work together to provide a reliable connection for all!

5G is faster, more reliable, and has greater capacity and lower latency than 4G/LTE and earlier generation mobile network technologies. 

Accessing 5G requires a 5G-compatible device in an area that is covered by a CWS 5G network. 5G compatible devices include selected models from: Apple/ Xiaomi/ Huawei/ Oppo

Current 5G compatible devices are on the market are "backward compatible," meaning that they are capable of functioning on earlier-generation CWS networks such as 2G, 3G and 4G outside of 5G coverage areas.  

If you have one of our 5G Unlimited postpaid packages, your device will automatically switch over to the available super-fast 4G+ network in locations without 5G. This means that you can enjoy the unlimited experience with unlimited data, calls and SMS.

Yes, you will still receive the 5G Unlimited package benefits even with a 4G/LTE device that can only access the 4G network.
